PEI Glossary
The terms you will see in the dashboard, the documentation and this knowledge base.
Short definitions of the terms used across PEI.
- Buyer – a company that rewards its customers with a Seller's loyalty currency.
- Seller – a company operating a loyalty program whose currency Buyers distribute.
- Partnership (also Connection in the API) – the approved relationship between one Buyer and one Seller. Each partnership uses one loyalty currency.
- Capability – what a Buyer may do with the Seller's currency: Earn, Spend or Convert.
- Package – the Buyer's prepaid commitment for a partnership, defining price per point and included volume. Options are set by the Seller and shown in the dashboard.
- Balance – the loyalty currency a Buyer has available to distribute under a partnership. Reduced by every Earn, increased by top-ups.
- Top-up – adding loyalty currency to an active partnership by paying an additional invoice.
- Scheme – the pricing configuration under which a transaction runs; every transaction references a scheme. Shown in the API and in transaction details.
- Transaction – a single Earn, Spend or Convert event for one end customer.
- Loyalty account number – the end customer's identifier in the Seller's program (e.g. frequent flyer number). Required for Earn.
- Partner Resources – the Seller's brand assets and guidelines, visible to Buyers with an active partnership.
- Partnership request template – the agreements, requirements and questions a Seller defines for incoming requests.
- Customer Portal – a hosted page where end customers submit claims to earn loyalty currency without technical integration.
- Sandbox – the test environment at pei-sandbox.qiibee.com with separate credentials and no real transactions.
- Webhook – an HTTP notification PEI sends to the Buyer's system when a transaction changes status.
